Still bending your neck while using your mobile devices? Stop! For every inch your head bends forward to your device, the weight of your head increases thereby putting so much pressure on your spine. Doing this for long periods increases the likelihood of health concerns in future. Alternative lifestyle adjustment would be to raise device to eye level and take breaks from those devices.
Poor Posture at Workstation
Still over bending, over stretching, overreaching and twisting at your workstation? Stop! 2018 is the year where you take responsibility for your health and wellbeing. You would need to be alive and in good health to make the money. So, if your boss is not doing something about your workstation or you the boss/entrepreneur cannot afford to get proper furniture yet, improvise. Rearranging your workstation, adding a throw pillow, putting materials you need regularly within reach will give your body needed respite.
Use of Faulty machine/work equipment
Still managing that equipment (car, photocopier etc.) because in your mind you’ve said God forbid, nothing will happen? Stop! Just because nothing happened yesterday does not mean nothing will happen today or tomorrow. There are a lot of external factors that can cause that equipment to go from harmless to harmful real quick. So, get the machine fixed by a professional not just anyone.
Performing unsafe tasks without safety procedures
Still engaging in a risky task without a commensurate safety system? Stop! A lot of times we know the job description entails unsafe aspects but for a variety of reasons we do not put in place the necessary safety measures that can reduce the likelihood of accidents. The most common reason here is cost however the cost of accidents are way higher than the cost of incorporating a safety system at work. Another reason here is ignorance because most times some of us still see some actions at the surface level. Get information, you do not have to learn from your experience. Learn from the experience of others.
Use of phones on the road
Still fiddling with your phones while driving or walking? Stop! Did you know the Road Safety Law on use of phones on the road does not limit the use to phone calls? It doesn’t say do not receive calls while driving but do not USE phones. So, you could just be fiddling with the phone but if you’re caught, you are liable for breaking the law. The fixation on mobile devices is a growing safety challenge most especially for motorists and pedestrians. Therefore it is important to keep our phones away while on the roads. Use of phones while driving has been likened to driving blindfolded for 5 seconds. Would you like to be driven by a blindfolded driver? I guess not, so keep your phones away.
